Daytrip to Upton House ～日帰りの旅:アップトンハウス

Upton House, Visited on 27.08.2021 This is a National Trust property. We did not need to book tickets to visit. However, due to the Covid, upstairs rooms are currently closed. The house was owned by Walter Samuel in 1930s. His father was the founder of Shell. Original building was from 1690s and extended over the years, then remodelled to the present house as what we see now in late 1920s. This house is also known for its art collection. Photo 9: View from the garden, looking towards Mirror Pool. アプトンハウス: 訪問日 8月27日ウォーリックシャーにあるナショナルトラストが管理するハウスの一つです。今回は事前のチケット予約の必要はありませんでしたが、コロナ禍の影響で、2階の部屋は残念ながら非公開でした。 1930年代、ここの所有者は、当時イギリスで最も裕福な貴族とも言われたウォルターサミュエルでした。ウォルターの父マーカスはシェル石油の創設者です。元々は、1690年代に建てられ少しずつ拡張されていたそうですが、現在の建物に改装されたのは1920年代後半のことでした。絵画や美術品のコレクションでも知られています。 Photo 1: 正面のゲートから見えるハウス Photo 2: ハウスの正面玄関.
